Summer Reading Programs
Florence Community Library and Maricopa Public Library offer story times, puzzles and special guest programs for younger children. Teens can sign up for reading programs at either library, win prizes for every 10 books read and compete for a grand prize. Parents must remain with younger children during special programs and story time sessions. Teens may visit the library on their own to work on completing their reading lists.

College for Kids
Central Arizona College offers College for Kids for second- through sixth-grade students every summer. The program offers children the opportunity to explore subjects related to a specific theme each year. Hands-on experiments for science and practical applications in other disciplines are presented in an exciting and fun learning environment tailored to the age of the student. Tuition, as of 2010, was $210 per child, which includes supplies, food, a T-shirt and group photo. Classes are held at the Aravaipa Campus and transportation is included in the tuition.

Maricopa Summer Camps
The City of Maricopa offers more than a dozen summer camps, fitness programs and specialty classes, plus swimming lessons for children of all ages. Camps include performing arts, extreme dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, theater fundamentals and wrestling. Ice skating basics for children ages 3 to 6, hockey for tots and junior golf are appropriate for the youngest children, while older children may enjoy extreme dance classes, karate and coed golf. Crime scene investigation, guitar and craft classes are suitable for teens. Classes are available for special needs children, as well. Certification classes in babysitting and CPR are also offered, as are "kinder-quette" etiquette classes and manners lessons for older children.
