Dog Friendly Hotels In South Central Texas

Visit the Alamo Mission in San Antonio.


Texas' South Central region features popular tourist destinations such as the Riverwalk and Alamo Mission in San Antonio as well as the state capitol in Austin. Many of the hotels in this region allow dog owners to bring their furry friends with them. South Central Texas has outdoor recreational areas that permit dogs, including the Zilker Metropolitan Park in Austin and the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.

The Hotel Indigo in Downtown San Antonio is adjacent to the historic Alamo, a mission that was converted into a fort during the Texas War of Independence in the mid-19th century. The hotel is also within walking distance of shopping and dining in the city's Riverwalk district. As of summer 2010, dogs are allowed to stay for a nightly fee of $35 per pet. No weight limit is enforced. Hotel amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, laundromat, business center with fax services and an on-site restaurant, Phil Bar and Bistro, that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each guest room has a satellite television and work desk, while some have living room areas with sleeper sofas.

Wingate by Wyndham New Braunfels


The Wingate hotel is in the San Antonio suburb of New Braunfels, and it allows dogs to stay for free. All dogs must be under 25 pounds, and they must be kept away from the breakfast room and swimming area. Dogs cannot be left unattended in the guest rooms. Amenities at this hotel include an indoor swimming pool and whirlpool tub, exercise room, complimentary continental breakfast and meeting space for seminars. Access to Wi-Fi Internet is available throughout the hotel. The 72 guest rooms offer free local calls, work desks and satellite televisions and are smoke-free. In downtown Austin, the Hyatt Regency faces the shore of Lady Bird Lake and is within walking distance of marinas on the water. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from Zilker Metropolitan Park and the campus of the University of Texas-Austin. As of summer 2010, dogs are permitted to stay for a nightly fee of $50 per pet. All dogs must weigh under 70 pounds, and the owners must provide vaccination records upon arrival. The hotel's amenities include shuttle service to Austin International Airport, a laundromat, valet parking and an on-site restaurant, Southwest Bistro, that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The guest rooms have Wi-Fi Internet access, flat-screen televisions and king or double beds.

Ramada Limited San Marcos


The Ramada, located in San Marcos, is a five-minute drive to the San Marcos River, where tourists can take glass-bottom boat tours provided by the Aquarena Center. As of summer 2010, dogs under 20 pounds are allowed to stay for a nightly fee of $25 per pet. This hotel offers amenities such as parking spaces for large trucks and RVs, a car rental desk, daily housekeeping service, complimentary continental breakfast and an outdoor swimming pool and whirlpool tub. Each room has Wi-Fi Internet access, a satellite television, microwave and refrigerator. Some of the guest rooms have whirlpool tubs.
