Many North Texas foundations receive some of their funding through private donations.
Texas always has been known for doing things big, and the number of philanthropic efforts that award grants to nonprofits and civic groups is no exception. This is particularly true in North Texas where many of these groups are located. From private foundations to corporate initiatives, the monies raised and awarded go toward everything from the arts to education and from the military to the environment.
Amon G. Carter Foundation
The Amon G. Carter Foundation awards 50 percent of its grant funds to the Amon Carter Museum and then generally directs the other 50 percent to efforts in the Fort Worth/Tarrant County area in Texas. These efforts include the arts, education, health and medical services, human and social services and programs for youth and the elderly. Other fields and geographic areas also are considered, according to the foundation.
