Kids can get their own online Moshi Monster.
Moshi Monsters combines caring for a virtual pet and social networking and is specifically geared towards kids. Kids can adopt a monster, name it, take care of it, engage in social networking activities with other users such as blogs and forums, and play games. Moshi Monsters offers free memberships, but partaking in all aspects of the website requires a paid membership.
Instructions
1. Navigate to http://moshimonsters.com and click the "Adopt a monster" icon located at the top of the Moshi Monsters website.
2. Choose your monster and customize its colors with the choices provided. Click "Next" to proceed to the next screen.
3. Read the rules of the site. Check the box to agree to the terms and conditions of the Moshi Monster website. Click "Next" to proceed to the next screen.
4. Register by entering your desired username and password along with your age and email address. You can uncheck the box for the email subscription if you don't want to be added to their email list. If you are under the age of 13, you should enter your parent's email so they can give their permission for you to join the site. Click "Next" to proceed to the next screen.
5. Check your email for an email from Moshi Monsters containing the activation link to gain full access to the site. This email will also ask parents to indicate their consent for their child to join by clicking the activation link.
6. Click the activation link in the email to complete the basic registration process.
7. Log in to the site with the username and password you used at registration.
8. Click "Membership" from the top navigation menu bar if you want to upgrade your basic free membership and become a paying member on the site. Moshi Monsters states that paying members receive access to content unavailable to basic level members.
9. Select your location from three choices: USA/Canada, UK/Europe and the rest of the world.
10. Choose a membership package from three choices. As of April 2011 for U.S. citizens, the month-to-month package is $5.95 per month, the 6 month package is $39.95 and the 12 month package is $49.95. In addition, Moshi Monsters offers recurring payment options for the one month and the six month packages.
11. Pay your membership fee with either a credit card or PayPal.
