Computer Engineering Scholarships In South Carolina

Many scholarship programs are available to students pursuing degrees in computer science and computer engineering in South Carolina. These scholarship programs are offered by several different sources, including the South Carolina state government, state professional organizations of engineers, the federal government, and South Carolina colleges and universities.

South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation

Computer engineering students in South Carolina can apply for annual scholarships offered by the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation. Three scholarships of $1,000 are awarded each year. To be eligible, an applicant must be a junior or senior undergraduate engineering major, and must be attending an accredited university within the state.

South Carolina Space Grant Consortium

The South Carolina Space Grant Consortium, through a grant from the federal government, makes scholarships available to South Carolina engineering students. The Kathryn D. Sullivan Science and Engineering Fellowship awards $7,000 to an engineering student for his senior year. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of letters of recommendation, faculty recommendation, academic record, and an applicant's own statement pertaining to past accomplishments and future plans. Applications must be submitted electronically.

South Carolina State Scholarships

The South Carolina state government offers two scholarships limited to students in just a few disciplines, and computer science is one of them. The South Carolina LIFE Scholarship Program awards up to $5,000 per year to state residents, and computer science majors may be eligible for an additional $2,500 per year during their second, third and fourth undergraduate years. The South Carolina Palmetto Fellows program awards up to $7,500 per year to residents, and computer science majors may again be eligible for an additional $2,500 per year.

School-Specific Scholarships

South Carolina colleges and universities offering degrees in computer science and engineering may also award departmental scholarships to attending students. For example, students pursuing a degree in computer engineering at South Carolina State University may be eligible to receive scholarships of up to $5,000 per year. Computer engineering students at USC Columbia may be eligible for a number of departmental scholarships, including the Allan M. Quick Scholarship, Boeing Education Scholarship, and J. Hubert Noland Memorial Scholarship.
