PAWS funds and volunteers help all animals in need.
PAWS is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to people helping animals that are homeless, abused or otherwise in need. This charitable organization relies mostly on private contributions and volunteers for its work in shelters, clinics and adoption functions. Anyone not directly affiliated with PAWS but who wishes to conduct a fundraiser on its behalf should first contact PAWS and receive permission and direction from the local PAWS branch prior to planning and announcing the fundraiser.
Adoption Day
One PAWS fundraiser suggestion is to organize an adoption day in your community. Coordinate with other volunteer organizations and shelters in the local area to enhance marketing and advertisement and increase participation. An adoption day not only can help generate funds for PAWS, it also can assist local homeless animals with finding new forever homes. Set up your adoption day fundraiser at a prominent local family-oriented business or park, with permission from the owner or city, to help foster local attendance and participation.
Gala Benefit
A more formal fundraising event idea for PAWS is to host a gala dinner benefit. An event of this type is commonly held at a venue such as a hotel ballroom, formal restaurant or similar type of establishment. Fundraising opportunities during this event can include ticket sales, a silent auction, live auction, private donations and, in some cases, animal adoptions when appropriate. A gala event may require a large amount of preparation and include assistance from the local PAWS branch.
Auction
An auction fundraiser to benefit PAWS can be done online, live or as a silent auction. Items up for auction should be donated to the project. Consider consulting local animal stores, businesses and other retail or service locations for donations to the project. Some examples of auction items are pet care services, car washing services or a dog bakery gift basket. Items up for auction should be collected and cataloged at least one day prior to the auction so that their inclusion is confirmed. Contributing businesses may request a receipt for tax purposes.
Party With Your Pet
Organize a community party, be it an ice cream social or a barbecue and encourage people to attend with their pets. Pets can include a dog, cat, goldfish, or other animal as long as the animal can be safely secured or leashed to help prevent accidents or injuries. Encourage people to provide private donations. You may combine this PAWS fundraising idea with an adoption day. Along with a local animal adoption clinic or shelter, you can host the event with food for both humans and animals, music and family-oriented activities for your community while helping animals in need.
