Ontario, Canada has more lakeside cottage resorts than anywhere else in the world.
The Ontario Cottage Resorts website reports that, "Ontario boasts the world's largest number of lakeside cottage resorts and lodges." Cottage resorts range from small rustic cabins with kitchens, BBQ grills and sunset views, to luxurious three bedroom homes with fireplaces, decks, hot tubs and modern conveniences. Many Ontario cottage resorts are pet friendly and charge reasonable or no pet fees, but all require prior approval for pet guests.
Lake Edge Cottages
All Lake Edge Cottages have views of the lake and beautiful sunsets.
Lake Edge Cottages is a four-season, pet friendly resort on Katchewanooka Lake. One and two bedroom smoke-free cottages are arranged along the shore and fully equipped with kitchen, linens, fireplace, free wireless Internet and other amenities. All have views of sunsets over the lake. All well-socialized, healthy pets are welcome at Lake Edge. Dogs must be under owner's control and picked up after on all 12.5 acres. Pets are never allowed on furniture and must not be left alone unless they are crate trained and quiet. A portion of each $10 per night pet fee is donated to animal shelters.

Blue Moon Retreat
Blue Moon Retreat is a four-season resort with activities in the summer and in the winter.
The Blue Moon Retreat is located between Bancroft and Barry's Bay on the east side of Algonquin Park. Dogs and cats are welcome with no charge. Of the retreat's six lakefront cottages, some are pet friendly year round and some allow pets from October through May. Pets may not be left unattended for prolonged periods, dogs must be leashed when outside the cottage and owners must clean up after them. Canada's Pet Friendly online directory quotes the Blue Moon Retreat's owners: "We invite you and your pet to unwind, relax, reconnect and rejuvenate in comfort and luxury at our small four-season housekeeping cottage resort on peaceful Purdy Lake."

Wildwood Cottages
At Wildwood Cottages, dogs are welcome to swim near the dock.
Wildwood Cottages, which operates from May through Thanksgiving weekend, is on the west shore of the Otonabee River, and situated beside a private bay that provides safe swimming near a sandy beach. The grounds are spacious, cottages are separated from each other and each has a fully equipped kitchen.
Dogs and cats are welcome year-round and must be picked up after and supervised by their owners. There are no pet fees, except for extra clean-up. Owners will be charged for any extra clean-up. Dogs must be leashed and kept off the beach, but they may play in designated water areas.

Birch Bend Cottages
Birch Bend Resort offers fishing boats with reliable motors, two kayaks, paddle boat and a canoe.
Birch Bend Cottage Resort is on Upper Lake Chemong in the heart of the Kawarthas region. All pets are welcome and stay free with prior approval. There are pet walking areas on and off the property, on-site pet swimming areas and a safe, sandy beach. Dogs must be under owner control and never left alone in the cottage. The resort has no size restrictions, and dogs are welcome to join their people in all Birch Bend activities, including boating, hiking and swimming. All waterfront cottages face west for beautiful sunset views.

Each cabin has a dock area where your dog can play and swim.
Sunny Point Resort, Cottages & Inn is on Otter Lake, near Parry Sound at the edge of the Muskoka region. There are 10 pet friendly waterfront cottages on 84 acres of property. Each cottage has three bedrooms, fully equipped modern kitchen, living room, satellite TV, wood stove, dining room table and full bath. Cottages also have a screened-in porch with patio furniture, gas BBQ, a lightweight canoe and a dock area where dogs can swim. Two pets are allowed per cottage with no charge unless clean up is required. Owners must maintain control over their pets and no pets are allowed on the furniture. The family owners of the resort say, "If you are planning a day trip without the dog and he or she needs to be walked, please contact us. With sufficient lead time, we can usually fit it in."
