New Jersey is home to many volunteer organizations.
Whether taking care of displaced animals, homeless persons or at-risk children, volunteering provides important social services that improve the lives and well-being of many people and animals. New Jersey is home to a variety of charitable organizations, large and small, that offer a myriad of volunteering opportunities for both adults and children.
United Way of Central Jersey
The United Way offers a wide range of volunteering possibilities both white-collar and blue-collar. Volunteers use their administrative skills helping in the United Way office or making phone calls asking for donations. More high energy options include helping rebuild houses and buildings, or canvasing the streets for donations or to sign up volunteers. The United Way services a number of community, youth and senior organizations in the central New Jersey area including the Adult Day Center of Somerset County, the Passaic County Historical Society, the Give the Kids A Break organization in Hackensack, and the Teen Parents Empowerment Program.
