Use paint to create a blue sky, clouds and rainbow to complement your Noah's Ark theme.
Decorate your baby's nursery with a Noah's Ark theme to celebrate your love of the biblical story or to create a room with animals and nature to welcome your child home. A Noah's Ark theme can include a few key elements or detailed decor that re-creates many elements from the story. Does this Spark an idea?
Walls
Paint a mural on the walls in your baby's room if you're artistic. If you aren't, use stencils or enlist the help of an artistic loved one or a professional. Another option is to use peel-and-stick wall decals that are faster than painting and nearly impossible to do wrong.
Use light blue on the top of the walls and on the ceiling to mimic the sky. Paint the lower portion of the walls a darker blue to look like the ocean and meet the sky blue with a wave pattern. Paint an ark on one wall with pairs of animals peeking out the windows and on the decks. Pairs of birds, particularly doves, can fly above the ark. Add birds to the ceiling as well as the walls. Turtles, dolphins, fish, whales and other sea creatures can swim alongside the ark in pairs. Wrap the ark around a corner if you want to fit more animals on it. Paint a rainbow on another wall.
Framed pictures of various animals and arks can decorate solid-colored walls, or complement a few peel-and-stick decals if you don't want to paint a mural on the walls.
Furniture
Choose a crib, chest and shelves in pine wood or another raw-looking finish to mimic the raw wood that made the ark. Hang a mobile of little boats or animals over the baby's crib. Add a toy box shaped like a boat or chest in the same wood. Replace the original drawer knobs with small boat knobs or animal knobs. Include a rocking chair that mimics the same wood and style as the rest of the furniture.
Linens
Use a store-bought crib set that focuses on Noah's Ark or different animals. Create your own if you want a one-of-a-kind bed set for your baby out of material that depicts different animals or goes with your Noah's Ark theme. Avoid busy patterns if your walls include lots of detail; use a detailed bed set if your walls are rather plain. Hang simple curtains that blend in with the walls if your walls have a busy mural, or use patterned curtains to introduce images of animals if your walls are plain.
Accessories
Complete the Noah's Ark theme through accessories around the room. A clock featuring animals, animal-covered light switch plates, nightlights, lamps and animal finials on the crib posts will tie together the entire room. Add pairs of stuffed animals on shelves, the dresser or rocking chair to contribute to the theme.
