Teacup Piggy Party Ideas

Use small pig toys to create entertaining games.

Teacup pigs, also known as potbelly pigs and pocket pigs, usually weigh an average of 35 to 60 pounds when fully grown. Many children and some adults find these pigs fascinating and intriguing. When planning a teacup piggy party, you can incorporate pigs into all the fun. From the invitations to the games, create a piggy party your guests will be talking about for months to come. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Print pictures of teacup pigs on cardstock paper, and write the party details on the back of the paper. Alternatively, use pink cardstock paper to cut out the shape of a pig and decorate each one to make party invitations. Use pink chenille stems to create the pig's curly tail on each invitation. Another idea is inflatable pig invitations. Inflate several small pigs, and write the party details on each one. Deflate the pigs, and mail them in padded envelopes. Party guests must inflate the small pigs to read the party details.

Decorations

Pig-themed decorations are available at most party supply stores and online. Use baby pig decorations, if possible. You can hang pictures and posters of pigs and distribute small plush pigs around the party area. Small pig toys make charming table centerpieces. Tie balloons to the pig toys on the tables for added decoration. A large banner that reads "Welcome to the pig pen" is a fun way to greet your guests. Other items to decorate the party area include hay bales, corn stalks and troughs.

Activities

For children, have an adult or older teen paint their faces like a pig. Alternatively, give each child a pig mask or allow him to make his own at the party, using paper plates, elastic string and paint or markers. Cut the eyes, nose and mouth out of the paper plate, and paint the mask pink. Poke a hole in both sides of the mask to attach the elastic string, to keep the mask on the child's face. Both adults and children can have a pig impersonation contest, in which each guest give his best pig impersonation. Award prizes to the best, funniest, loudest and silliest pig impersonations.

Games

Create a relay race using small toy pigs that will fit on top of a wooden spoon, and divide the players into two teams. Mark two lines 25 feet apart: a starting line and a run-to line. Have each team line up at the starting line, and give the first player in each team a wooden spoon holding a teacup pig toy. When you say "Go," the first player in each team line must race to the run-to line and back to the starting line with the pig on the wooden spoon. When they return to the starting line, they will hand off the spoon and pig to the next player in line, who must do the same thing. If a player drops the pig, she must start over at her starting line. The first team to finish wins the race.

Another game idea is a pig hunt. Hide the small toy pigs all over the party area. The player who finds the most pigs wins the game.
