To use facebook settings log into your Facebook.com home page. Click on the settings at the top right hand side. Go to account settings.
The first tab is settings: Under this category are following titles: Name/contact email/ password/security question/privacy/credit cards/ Deactivate;
Name- This is where you can change your name if you get married or divorced.
Contact email- This is where you can change your email if it's necessary. If you are using this site for old high school friends, you should put your maiden name before your new last name if you're married.
Password - This is where you can change your password, and I recommend you do this at least every 60 days or so.
Security question- You can change your security question if you need to.
Privacy - There are 4 subcategories in this tab: Profile /Search/News feed and wall/Applications- This is where you can control what other people see on your homepage( how people can search or find you, what they see on your wall, and the control of applications). You can also block someone who is bothering you in this area.
2. Applications:
Here is one of the fun parts of using facebook settings. Go to the settings tab, click applications settings, It will show you the applications you are currently using, some may be ones that your friends have as well. If you click on any one of them ("about"), it will show you that application, but at the top you can browse all the applications. This I found to be a lot of fun. There are so many interesting ones to explore! This is a good reason to learn to use your facebook settings.
Check out the applications once you're used to the site. Check out "Where I've been" - This application has a huge map of the world that you can mark the places you've been any place in the world. You can write a short story about the place you've visited. The map can be viewed by your friends as well as you can view your friends maps.
"Throw stuff at your friends" - This is a fun application on Facebook.com that you can throw things like snowballs, dead fish, tomatoes at your friends on Facebook.com.
Why not adopt a 3D pet who lives right on your profile! (Foopets). You get to choose your pet, by adopting it for free. There are some things on this application that you can choose to pay for but you can stick to the free part.
3. Photos - To include pictures and create albums within your profile- Go to profile- Photos. You can create photo albums in all sorts of categories. Once you have created your photo album, just click into it and it will allow you to add pictures and additional pictures that you have kept on your computer. This is a good way to fully use your facebook settings.
